So, in my last few weeks of study for the 2020 Bar Exam, I got an early “surprise” in the form of my period, and decided to try period panties as a means of being able to work and study comfortably - I have pretty sensitive skin, and sanitary pads typically give me a painful rash about 2 days in that lasts until I stop bleeding and can stop wearing pads (which can be as much as 14 days because I have PCOS; even on an extended-cycle birth control pill, my breakthrough bleeding can be unpredictable). I tried a couple brands, but I have to say that for the price, Bambody undies are an absolute necessity in my life now.
While some other brands definitely have a more “normal panties” sort of feel to the fabric (Bambody undies feel a little plasticky, imo), Bambody undies have a wider coverage area, especially in the back, which is helpful when I’m not just sitting at my desk - it’s especially nice for physical activity, or for sitting in unusual positions. They’re a little snug of a fit (I wear mediums, usually, and went up to large for Bambody undies), but the snugness does mean that they stay where I put them instead of sagging or getting twisted when I’m walking, sleeping, exercising, or working. And, unlike sanitary pads, I’ve experienced absolutely no “pad rash,” even when I’ve worn them for similar amounts of time, with similar flow and similar environmental conditions (heat, humidity, etc).
For my average flow, in general, I get most of a day out of one pair - and, so far, I’ve encountered exactly zero problems with washing and air-drying them. I do put them in a delicates bag - it makes it easier to spot them when I’m transferring from washer to dryer, and pull them out so they can air-dry.
In short, period panties in general are a lifesaver, especially when I don’t have time to worry about things like my period, and Bambody panties, despite their low price tag, are definitely as effective as other brands at replacing sanitary pads, and have some advantages over other brands in terms of the breadth of their coverage area and snug fit.
P.S.: I’ve also tried using Bambody panties with a sanitary pad for overnight to avoid leaking out the back or side, and that works wonderfully, as well, for peace of mind when you’re really worried about leaks.
