Okay, I was skeptical about period underwear. My friend boasted that Bambody was a game changer, so I went ahead and ordered a 3-pack. My issues with pads involved getting rashes from the plasticky liners, not being able to sleep on my back during the heavy-flow nights, and generally just feeling like I'm wearing a diaper. Tampons have never worked well for me. I always feel them and they get to be actually painful. Add to all this that even when I'm not in my period, I have to wear panty liners because I have a pelvic floor disfunction which basically makes me leak all the time. In other words, my underwear is constantly wet if I don't use a pad. I have hated living like this. I like to be active. I run, jump, and swim, but lately, I have been avoiding simple things like jumping on the trampoline with my kids because I don't want to have to go in and change my pants when I'm done. So I was hoping that period underwear might help.
The ultimate test has blown my mind, and I am forever thankful for this product. I had not yet tried the Absorbent Panty that I purchased, but I packed them with me on a holiday trip to visit family. I wasn't expecting my period for another week, but it's never very predictable, so I thought I might as well pack them just in case. I felt a little spotting the night before several of us decided to go on an epic hike. Surprise, the morning of the hike, I was in a full-on, heavy-flow period. I put the Absorbent Panty on and black leggings. I figured that if they leaked, at least the black leggings wouldn't show it, and I also packed a black hoody to sit on for the car. I was totally expecting product malfunction.
To my utter amazement, those Absorbent Panties took on my hike AND the incredible deluge that hit us. For 7 miles, we hiked, jumped, and climbed while being soaked from head to toe by a rain storm that lasted over an hour. While hiking, I figured that even if the panties had worked, the fact that my clothes were now drenched would cause them to leak. I was happy though throughout the hike because I have NEVER been so comfortable during the first day of my period. And then to think of how a pad would have utterly "malfunctioned" during such intense activity in the rain. To put the icing on the cake, I was dumbfounded when we finished the hike, and I assessed the "damage" in the restroom. I used tissue to blot my leggings and and see how much the panties had leaked. Nothing. The leggings and the Absorbent Panty are black so I couldn't see any leak, but the proof was that when I dabbed the leggings and the outside of the panty, the tissue paper was only wet from the rain water, no blood whatsoever from my period! Wow!
I went on to use my other Absorbent Panties during my trip. I wore one single panty during the second day of my period (also an extremely heavy flow) and they were perfectly absorbent through driving in the car for 5 hours and until I showered that night. I found the clean-up to be quite easy, rinsing them out in the shower when I step in to shower, and tossing them in the washing machine. I have even put them in the dryer accidentally a couple of times and their shape remains just fine. I don't mean to put them in the dryer though because I'm sure that will not be good for them in the long run.
Sleeping during my period is a complete dream! I can sleep in any position I like and they don't leak! I don't worry at all that my sheets will get soiled during my period. All that to say that I am so very thankful for these. I can work and play harder during my period than I have been able to do in over twenty years. I can also sleep better during my period, not having to worry even in my hours of rest. Thank you so much for this wonderful product. I just ordered another 3-pack.
